Fuel economy

Ratio coverage
A minute width expansion of axial distance, achieved with a narrower axle of the pulley and by a newly developed belt which caters for this configuration, resulted in the world’s top level ratio coverage of 7.0*2 from the previous ratio coverage of 6.0. This achieves strong acceleration upon launch. Furthermore, lowering the engine rpm at high speeds achieves improved fuel economy and a quiet drive. ※2 Jatco CVT8 2.0~2.5L Class
Friction reduction
We returned to the basic machine design, and reviewed approximately 300 CVT components out of a total of approximately 500. In addition to this, we miniaturized the oil pump and introduced the usage of a newly, developed low viscosity oil. As a result CVT friction is reduced by approximately 40%*3- a great contributing factor to the fuel economy. ※3 Jatco CVT8 2.0~2.5L Class (In-house measurement compared with conventional CVT in the same class)
