Characteristics of the Jatco CVT-XS
- Vertical control valves
- Reduced overall height. Contributes to vehicle crashworthiness, particularly in pedestrian protection.
- Optimized pulley shape
- Reduced belt winding radius realizes a ratio coverage of 7.9 (13% improvement from previous units). Contributes to improved feeling of acceleration and fuel economy.
- Multi-plate lock-up clutch
- Heat dissipation improvement allows for more effective use of the lock-up control. Contributes to improved feeling of acceleration and fuel economy.
- Electric oil pump
- Downsized mechanical oil pump
- The combination of two oil pumps (4 and 5) ensures efficient and flexible oil pressure adjustment in all driving situations. Contributes to improved feeling of acceleration and fuel economy.
Improved fuel economy
By downsizing the mechanical oil pump, mechanical losses were reduced and fuel economy was improved. The greenhouse gas/corporate average fuel economy (GHG/CAFE) standards for the United States of America have also been met.
Excellent drivability
By using a multi-plate clutch and 3-way linear solenoid, engine revving when accelerating can be suppressed, and the driver can gain an intentional feeling of acceleration. In addition, excellent responsiveness was realized through the use of a twin oil pump.
Contribution to vehicle safety
By changing the orientation of the control valves from horizontal to vertical, the overall height of the unit was reduced. This allowed for 280 Nm of output potential while meeting crash requirements for the small vehicles it is installed in, contributing to increased vehicle safety. The vehicles equipped with this unit have a 5-star NCAP* rating in pedestrian protection.
