The JR913E is a high-efficiency, high-response, 9-speed automatic transmission (AT) for RWD vehicles that has ideal gear ratios and is constructed with an oil pressure system that enables highly responsive gear changes. It has the same gearbox length as our older 7-speed automatic transmission, making it easy to equip, and through such things as the use of magnesium for the transmission case, it is more advanced both in terms of lightness and compactness.

Smaller and lighter

By thoroughly re-examing the transmission’s construction and using magnesium for the transmission case and aluminum for the bolts around the transmission, we were able to make it easy to equip, with a length shorter than and a weight lighter than our older 7-speed RWD AT, regardless of the fact that this transmission has more speeds.

Reduced friction and fuel consumption

By minimizing the mechanical losses in the oil pump, gears, and clutch, JATCO has created a transmission with high efficiency. In addition, by adjusting the internal lubricant flow rate in response to driving conditions to ensure each component is always provided with the optimal flow, both high efficiency and high durability are achieved.

Improved drivability and noise, vibration, and harshness performance

By activating the electric oil pump when shifting, using a design that makes oil pressure response quick and very stable, and improving the electric control of the solenoids in the control valve, the vehicle response delay following the operation of the accelerator pedal by the driver has been lowered to the absolute minimum.
In addition, we have achieved a high-level of performance for noise, vibration, and harshness by making use of a pendulum damper in the torque converter.
