JATCO to be Selected for the “FY2015 Diversity Management Selection 100” for the first time in Shizuoka Prefecture

JATCO Ltd (President: Teruaki Nakatsuka, head office: Fuji City, Shizuoka, Japan; capital: JPY29.9 billion), a leading manufacturer of highly environment-friendly CVTs (continuously variable transmissions), has been selected as one of the enterprises in the “FY2015 Diversity Management Selection 100”, awarded by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. The award commends companies that have improved their business results by harnessing the capabilities of diverse human resources. In the “FY2015 Diversity Management Selection 100”, which has been awarded since FY2012, JATCO is the first company headquartered in Shizuoka Prefecture to receive the award.

JATCO actively accepts diversity in all its forms, including gender, nationality, and career background, and promotes diversity that brings about the realization of a vibrant organization and the creation of new ideas. For the FY2015 selection, JATCO has been commended for its efforts in establishing production lines at its production sites that many women work actively at, as well as for developing a work-friendly environment for women that in turn has created work-friendly production lines not only for women, but for everyone. In addition, it has achieved results in improving quality, reducing inventory, and enhancing efficiency, introduced flexible time systems and telecommuting work systems, and brought about the realization of diverse working styles, resulting in reduction in the total number of working hours.  

JATCO’s activities to promote diversity has also produced results in the development of an environment that allows employees to balance work with child-raising duties. In August 2015, it was the first company headquartered in Shizuoka Prefecture to be certified as a “Platinum Kurumin” enterprise. Going forward, JATCO will continue to put effort into promoting diversity, in order to become a company that is able to provide high value to its customers, as well as to contribute to the society.
