ANNOUNCEMENT of a New JATCO Manufacturing Facility in China JATCO Ltd (President & CEO: Shigeo Ishida, Headquartered in Fuji City, Shizuoka, Japan, Paid-up Capital: 29.9353 billion yen) is pleased to announce the establishment of a new 100% owned subsidiary at Guangzhou, People's Republic of China. JATCO will invest approximately 6 billion yen to build a new production site of steel-belt Continuously Variable Transmissions (CVTs).This will be JATCO's second overseas production site, following first overseas subsidiary, JATCO Mexico, S.A. de C.V. (President: Katsufumi Ito, Headquartered in Aguascalientes City, Aguascalientes State). JATCO expects to begin producing steel-belt CVTs in 2009 at new plant in China. The initial production capacity will be around 140,000 units/year. Future increase of production capacity is anticipated depending on growing demand. This new plant will establish a manufacturing base in China. By setting up a new plant in China, JATCO is aiming at further expansion of the sales of AT/ CVTs in China market and its surrounding area where big growth potential lies, and that leads to JATCO's further growth and globalization. JATCO started production of steel-belt CVTs in 1997 and has become one of the largest volume producers of CVTs in the world.
