JATCO Ltd
Newly developed 6-speed automatic transmission for
FWD vehicles
JATCO Ltd(president: Shigeo Ishida,
headquarters: Fuji City, Shizuoka Prefecture, capitalization: \29,935.3 million), Automatic Transmissions and Continuously
Variable Transmissions (AT/CVT) manufacturer, announces that it has
developed a new 6-speed automatic transmission (AT) for front-wheel drive (FWD)
vehicles.
In spite of an increase in torque capacity and ratio coverage of some 10%,
we succeeded in downsizing the overall length and weight of the newly developed
FWD 6-speed AT by about 10%.
Compared to
conventional 5-speed AT, it supports powerful starting and acceleration
performance in the low to medium speed range by using close gear ratios and
expanding the ratio coverage while realizing both better fuel efficiency and
quieter running operation in the high speed range.
The new 6-speed AT
is being produced in the Yagi area (Yagi-cho, Nantan-city, Kyoto Prefecture)
and will be supplied to RENAULT, NISSAN and MITSUBISHI.
