Cumulative total production of 4-speed automatic transmissions for
Mini and 1-liter class FWD vehicles reaches 3 million units

JATCO Ltd, a manufacturer specializing in automotive automatic transmissions (AT, CVT) (President & CEO: Shigeo Ishida, Head Office: Fuji City, Shizuoka Prefecture, Capitalization:29.9353 billion yen) has achieved a cumulative total production of 3 million 4-speed automatic transmissions for mini and 1-liter class FWD (front-wheel-drive) vehicles (model JF405E).

Since first launched the AT in the Kakegawa area (Tanyo, Kakegawa City, Shizuoka Prefecture) in July 1998, the company has steadily expanded production while promoting a switch from 3-speed AT to 4-speed AT along with the increase in number of steps in stepped automatic transmissions, ultimately reaching a cumulative total production of 3 million units in about eight years.

The transmission is produced in the Kakegawa area and is supplied to SUZUKI MOTOR CORPORATION, GM Daewoo Auto & Technology Company, Hyundai Motor Company and other automakers. It is installed primarily in the Suzuki Wagon R and other mini vehicles.

¥July 1998: Start of production in the Kakegawa area and start of deliveries to Suzuki Motor Corp.
¥Dec. 1999: Start of deliveries to Hyundai Motor Company.
¥Nov. 2001: Start of deliveries to GM Daewoo Auto & Technology Company (Daewoo Motor Company at the time)
¥Aug. 2002: Cumulative total production reaches 1 million units
¥Nov. 2004: Cumulative total production reaches 2 million units
¥Sept. 2006: Cumulative total production reaches 3 million units
