Shanghai, China – JATCO Ltd is exhibiting now at Auto Shanghai 2019 (Booth: 5BG025), and this year, concept models for JATCO’s new e-Axle powertrain units for electrified vehicles are on display.

JATCO has two types of e-Axles, a coaxial type and a 3-axis type, with the coaxial type making its worldwide debut at this event. Both are high-efficiency units that achieve a small size and light weight by combining the motor and gears into one unit, and they benefit from the gear machining prowess that only a transmission manufacturer like JATCO can provide. In addition, they are backed by JATCO’s high quality and trustworthy reputation built on the over 100 million transmissions the company has produced thus far. Along with JATCO’s transmission for mild-hybrid vehicles that was first exhibited at Auto China 2018, these electrification technology solutions are being developed into products to meet the variety of customer needs that have arisen from the electrification of vehicles.

In addition, a selection of CVTs (continuously variable transmissions) from JATCO’s lineup that are also produced in China are on display to round out JATCO’s showcase of technological solutions tailored to a wide variety of mobility needs, ranging from gasoline to electrified vehicles.

In 2018, one in four 2-pedal vehicles sold in China were equipped with a CVT, so China continues to be an important market for JATCO. In 2009, JATCO (Guangzhou) Automatic Transmission Ltd., began production and now, its production capacity is at about 1 million units per year. In 2018, JATCO established a second production plant in China, JATCO (Suzhou) Automatic Transmission Ltd., and production will begin there near the end of 2019. This new plant has an area of 96,000 square meters and will employ roughly 1,000 workers. Its production capacity of 480,000 units per year will be used to produce the Jatco CVT8 for medium to large FWD vehicles.
