JATCO President Teruaki Nakatsuka commented that “environmental needs are growing amid steady expansion of China’s 2-pedal market, and the innovativeness and potential of CVT technology, which simultaneously achieves superior environmental and driving performance, is being recognized.” He also noted that “JATCO has positioned China as an important market for the realization of our global growth strategy, and we are confident that we can contribute to the advancement of China’s automotive society.”

In 2007, JATCO Guangzhou was established as JATCO’s second production base outside of Japan, following Mexico, and since commencing production in 2009 it has achieved a cumulative production of 4 million units. With production capacity having expanded from an initial 140,000 units/year to a present 1,000,000 units/year and the number of employees having increased dramatically from 250 to 2000, it has since matured into a vital production base that supports JATCO’s global production network.

JATCO Guangzhou manufactures the “Jatco CVT7” and the “Jatco CVT8”, major models in JATCO’s CVT lineup, and is the first and only JATCO production base to manufacture the “Jatco CVT7 W/R”, equipped in Nissan’s Lannia, Tiida, and Sylphy vehicles sold in China, as well as Nissan’s Kicks, which will be released to the Chinese market in July.

In 2012, JATCO Guangzhou opened its Quality Technical Center, the first of its kind for JATCO globally, and through this center’s development, market research, and quality assurance functions a system exists that can promptly respond to the needs of customers in the Chinese market.

Yoshinobu Akiyama, President of JATCO Guangzhou, remarked: “We appreciate the support of everyone involved throughout these past ten years. Moving forward, we will continue to value the opinions of our customers in China, and as a corporation that grows along with the Chinese market, we will perfect our manufacturing expertise under the leadership of all our employees.”

To ensure that their success continues over the next ten years and beyond, JATCO and JATCO Guangzhou will make efforts to provide high-performance, high-quality CVTs that satisfy their customers’ requirements in a timely manner, utilizing the proximity to their strategic market of China.
