| Q. Do automatic transmissions have poor fuel efficiency? |
A. It has now become possible to optimize the required hydraulic pressure through electronic control. There has been amazing progress in technology and a further broad improvement in fuel consumption through the expansion of the lock-up range, realization of high torque converter efficiency, decreased friction in the power train, weight reductions through optimal design, etc.
In addition, CVTs (Continuously Variable Transmissions), which allow gear changes that aim for the best engine fuel efficiency zone through the free selection of gear ratio, enable greater improvements in fuel efficiency than automatic transmissions.

| Q. What is the difference between CVTs and automatic transmissions? |
A. In contrast to gear changes at each step in the case of automatic transmissions, it is possible with CVTs to set continuous gear changes. This transmission mechanism realizes both excellent drivability and low fuel consumption, completely eliminates gear change shock and realizes powerful high-quality running performance. |

| Q. How often should the oil be changed in automatic transmissions? |
A. Our products basically do not require oil changes.
There are CVTs, however, that signal the need for an oil change and you should therefore check the handling manual of your vehicle for details.

| Q. There are various switches and positions but how should they be used? |
A. Recent automatic transmissions automatically set the optimal gear ratio to match the driving conditions, including climbing and descending hills, while traveling in the forward direction. It is therefore sufficient to basically set the gear in the “D” range.
There are also many automatic transmissions, however, that allow you to select and set the gear ratio yourself if, for example, you want to proceed forward smoothly on a snow-covered roadway, travel at high speed while constantly maintaining the engine RPM in a somewhat higher range or experience the pleasure of driving with the feel of a manual transmission. Check the handling manual of your vehicles for details. You should be fully capable of taking advantage of these advanced functions.
